At this point in our wedding season, we’ve been traveling to a different city just about every weekend. In fact, we are at the airport more than we are at home! But this weekend in particular was going to be a crazy one, and it was all happening right here in California. First stop—San Jose.
We loaded up on caffeine and a good breakfast before starting our 14-hour day with Jenny and Chris. Everybody was up bright and early for their traditional Vietnamese ceremony at the bride’s home. Flowers were presented, gifts were given, and many heartfelt words were said (we assume so at least, it was all in Vietnamese). A formal Catholic ceremony followed at the majestic St. Joseph’s Cathedral in downtown San Jose where they finally made it official! Afterwards, we took the whole entourage to San Jose City Hall for some portraits by the ultra-modern architecture, and then visited the Japanese Friendship Garden with the newly weds to soak in the lush greenery. A (massive) reception awaited them at the Scottish Rite where the space was transformed into this Hello Kitty lover’s happy place—pink walls, disco ball, ice sculpture and all!
Tomorrow was going to be another crazy day, but we will get to that later (smile).
