We love showing out-of-towners the beauties (and tasty delicacies) of San Diego. So when Alyssa and Stephen decided to visit us all the way from Florida, we knew exactly where to take them for their engagement session! La Jolla has always been one of our favorite spots to show off our Southern California landscape, with its natural rock formations, sea caves, deep blue waters, and even the undeniable smell of ocean life (if you’ve been there before, you know what I’m talking about!). The sun even made an appearance on this gloomy day to impress our guests even more! We had such a fun time exploring the coast and watching these two be absolutely adorable together. In a few months, we’ll be visiting paradise on the East Coast as they tie the knot at their parents’ jaw-dropping oceanside home in Florida—and we can’t wait!
This next one is near and dear to us. When our good friend Jessica announced her engagement, we were beyond thrilled! And any man who can pick out a ring and get a gemologist to say “yes” is a definite keeper (smile). I love the way they look at each other and make each other smile, even though Jessica’s twins were adamantly opposed to any kissing they did during the session! It was such a magical afternoon at our favorite park, and the light was beautiful!!! We couldn’t be happier for Jessica and Derek (and the kiddos) as they’re preparing for the start of a new family!
We had such a blast with Jessi and Fred, who came to San Diego all the way from New York for their engagement session! We definitely got to see their silly side as we spent the afternoon together, but man, do they take some beautifully romantic pictures! For years, Jessi and Fred had always joked about riding a tandem bike together but never had the chance to, so they rented a red tandem bike for the session, and we’re so glad they did! It made for some super cute photos, and also a funny post-session where we all tried to ride the bike without falling over. Now we know that posing with a tandem bike is much easier than riding one! It was a gorgeous and fun afternoon with these two at one of our favorite (secret) spots in town, and we cannot wait to watch them “ride in” again on their wedding day!
Life is funny sometimes, isn’t it? Dominique and Jamie were the Maid and Honor and Best Man at one of our favorite weddings four years ago, and so we’ve learned, the day Dominique’s best friend and Jamie’s brother got married was also the day they fell for each other! We were so thrilled when we got the news of their engagement, and were even more excited when they said they would come visit us in San Diego for their engagement session! We had such a fun time taking these two to some of our favorite places and restaurants in our neighborhood, and then visited the best beaches San Diego has to offer. The scenery and weather were phenomenal, but the connection that these lovers have made the whole experience magical. We can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day in Las Vegas in a few months, where we are going to see a whole lot of familiar faces!
Before their big celebration with family and friends, Elaine and Charlie had their own intimate ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, which is one of our favorite places ever! Besides the beautiful architecture and yummy light that is everywhere in this lovely building, we love that we have the honor of being one of the first people to celebrate the start of our couple’s happily ever after. And of course, in these moments we just do what we do best, and capture the pure glee on the faces of the newest mister and misses in town (smile). Can’t wait to spend another fabulous day with this happy couple in a few months in Napa Valley!
I’ve always loved the charm of Battery Park, and love it even more now that Le District, the new French Food Marketplace in New York City, is open for business! But creperies and fromageries aside, what an honor it was getting to know this spectacular couple with an even more incredible story. Katherine was the physical therapist that took care of both of Sherman’s parents during their times of need. After winning their hearts, she found the man who would soon take care of her forever. We’re so excited to watch them mark the beginning of another sweet journey next week in Manhattan!
When we met foodies Gen and Ray, we knew we would get along instantly! Besides their cute demeanor (seriously, they are so cute together), they light up at the mention of tasty treats and good eats, which meant a pit stop at one of their favorite yogurt shops in Old Pasadena was a must. Even though the weather wasn’t spectacular and it actually started to rain, they were all smiles with their sweets in hand and an arm around one another. With took cover at Pasadena City Hall, and ended the session with an afternoon snack together, which made all of us happy campers (smile). It’s true what Julia Child said, “People who love to eat are always the best people.”
La Jolla is probably one of our favorite places to go on dates in San Diego, with its beautiful coastline, wonderful restaurants, and the hint of romance in the air. While this area definitely has a special place in our hearts, it’s also a treasured spot to many other couples out there, including Tina and Jonathan. Both working in the Navy, they had to spend long months apart from each other while Jonathan was deployed, and yet during one of their reunions back in La Jolla, Jonathan got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. We revisited the very spot in Scripps Park where he popped the question, and strolled down memory lane along with their beloved little Einstein, who was just an absolute delight to spend the afternoon with! We also wandered over to the lovely Scripps Seaside Forum to relive a little bit of our own memories. Because, yes, it was where we had our own wedding (smile).
We will always love La Jolla…as will Tina and Jonathan. And Einstein.
